Welcome

Kyle Sandilands is an award-winning Canadian director and cinematographer with experience working around the globe. As a cinematographer, I’ve contributed and lensed projects for Netflix, HBO, Discovery and CBC respectively, while as a director on my own films have been privileged to travel to regions around the world.

Regardless of the project, the goal is always the same: to use bold visuals, strong characters and authenticity to tell great stories.

As a director / cinematographer I've been lucky to have worked on some exciting projects around the globe and I'm always searching for compelling stories with strong characters and bold visual opportunities.

Those stories led me to Nepal several times for an upcoming feature film spending extensive time with a Sherpa-owned and operated trekking company at Everest Basecamp.

And those stories introduced me to Sapa, Vietnam where with the CBT Vietnam project we've tried to show how the ethnic minority groups in the region are dealing with the growing changes that come with tourism.

Whether it’s shooting investigative documentary overseas following the controversial ‘voluntourism’ movement in lower and middle-income countries, or filming cinema verité with whistleblowers breaking the story on the NXIVM sex-trafficking cult, I’ve always tried to seek out stories with strong characters, bold visuals, and authenticity and fairness to the subject matter.

The chance to explore the world, meet extraordinary people in front of and behind the camera, and share those compelling stories with others is why I do what I do.  It makes the long hours, jet lag, and sleep deprivation worth it.

Aerial Cinematography

From the ground to the sky.

Aerial cinematography has become another key tool in telling stories in recent years. With technology more accessible than ever it is offering so many more options in storytelling.

Fully licensed and insured within the guidelines set by Transport Canada, unmanned aerial cinematography services are one more service I can bring to the table.

Visual Storytelling

From cave-paintings to social media, stories will never be limited to a single medium.  For me, photography is a natural extension of what I do, and another way to tell stories.
